Georgetown Texas

Georgetown is the county seat of Williamson County, one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. Georgetown has a rich and varied past and a bright and promising future.  Founded in 1848 and Southwestern University established in 1873, expansion began in the 1880s in downtown Georgetown.  Still evident today is the limestone masonry and Victorian detail in the buildings that line the square.  Georgetown square is one of Texas’ best historic town squares and was the first city in Texas to be named a Great American Main Street City in 1997, the highest honor bestowed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Today, three National Register Districts host more than 180 historic businesses and homes, and the Town Square Historic District is a singular point of Lone Star State pride.
