I love challenges…

I actually stumbled into my real estate career while encouraging my daughter to check it out.  She needed a career opportunity and I had always made money buying and selling my own homes, so I suggested that she take real estate classes and we decided that we would take them together.  Long story short, she joined a long standing company in Austin and I waited about 6 months before I launched my real estate career.  She hated it and I loved it.  I saw this venture as a challenge.

As a native Texan from North Texas, I grew up in a small town but I had big dreams.  When all the little girls in my family and friends were playing with dolls, I was playing “office”.  I dreamed of being in “business” all my young life but that dream was put on “hold” to raise three children and serve as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, serve as Secretary in the Eanes School PTA, etc.  Off and on during these years, I would work here and there in order to stay current on different types of businesses.  I was an executive assistant to attorneys, to a president of several oil companies, to a recording engineer, became a buyer for a dress shop, had my own clothing boutique with Mexican imports from the interior of Mexico, along with designing a small line of clothing for my boutique, owned a tanning salon and various other businesses.  I enjoyed the executive side of business where I could be where the action was.  I especially enjoyed my boutique because it offered me the chance to travel into Mexico to purchase inventory.

After my children were on their own, I had the opportunity to become a partner in an international business.  I, along with another creative thinker, formed an American corporation and a Mexican corporation and we purchased a maquiladora in Piedres Negras in Mexico, a sister city to Eagle Pass, Texas.  He administered the business of the American corporation and I operated the facility and administered the business of the Mexican corporation in Mexico.  Although I had minored in Spanish in college, I realized very quickly that my vocabulary was limited and so a new learning experience began immediately.  At the same time, it became very obvious to me that my extensive business knowledge in America was not much help in a foreign country.  So, a new learning experience of doing business began.  This was the challenge that I had dreamed of all my life.

My husband developed a terminal illness and we moved back to Austin and upon his death, I was in real estate and enjoying my new challenge.  However, his death left a void in my life and I took my doctor’s advice and began the hunt for a new companion.  I found the perfect companion for me and named her Rose.  That is her in the photo above and she brought immediate healing to my life.  It was well known among friends and family that my husband gave me roses for every occasion and many times just because.  So, now, I had a rose every day again.

Today, I enjoy the confidence that has been developed through almost twenty years as a real estate broker.  I still love the excitement of representing buyers and sellers and being there when they find the home of their dreams or sell their home to move up to the next stage of their lives.

I entered into my own brokerage company in 1992 and in 2008, I closed my business and joined Sky Realty because this company was focusing on search engine optimization and that was the next challenge that I was searching for.  I am deeply engrossed in this huge, never ending internet challenge.  With the slowdown of the American economy, I needed a new challenge and when the economy comes back, I’ll have a good presence on the internet and will be selling real estate night and day again.

All those initials after my name mean that I have continued to educate myself in real estate and have earned the highest designation, the CRS.

Now that you know who I am, you may feel confident that I have the education and experience to represent you and assist you in furthering your dreams when buying or selling your home.  Contact me and let me handle your real estate challenges.  It will be a win-win situation for both of us.
